Amplifying Consumer Voices

In raising awareness around suicide prevention and celebrating recovery, our community sent a strong message this September: suicide is preventable and recovery is possible.

One of the most important things we did this September – and will continue to do all year long – is amplify the voices of those who have worked hard to overcome their behavioral health challenges. In sharing these stories, we embolden others to seek recovery as well. Read more

BHRS Director Steve Kaplan Retires

As many of you know, today is Steve Kaplan’s last day as director of Behavioral Health and Recovery Services. New DUI Court Increases Public Safety

DUI Court Article PicBehavioral Health and Recovery Services, together with the San Mateo County Superior Court, District Attorney’s Office, the Private Defender Program and Probation introduced a new Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Court in San Mateo County on September 19.

The court provides second and third time misdemeanor offenders with a team that can link them to treatment and support services that were not previously provided as a part of the DUI process. Check out this Wellness Matters article for more on the DUI Court.

The Recovery Community Pays it Forward

The idea of giving back is huge in the recovery community.
