Details: NAMI San Mateo will present a mental health program discussing mental illness, as well as the services and programs that NAMI offers. Following this discussion, a person living well with their mental health diagnosis will be sharing their story.

Details: Center for Independence of Individuals with Disabilities (CID) will be hosting a film screening of “The Dark Horse” (2014) at the San Mateo Public Library, followed by a discussion on the film and mental health stigma. Refreshments will be provided for attendees, and there will be a raffle.  “The Dark Horse” is the story of world champion Chess player Genesis Poitini who is living with bipolar disorder.

In this workshop for middle school students and up, you will learn mind tools and brain hacks to study better, retain more information and calm your nerves before and during tests. Learn how to get into a flow state for study and test taking; three easy and quick tools for calming your nerves in an instant; tools to help you increase your confidence. Taught by Erin Acharya, CHT, HBCE and former educator. She is the owner of The Nest Hypnotherapy in South San Francisco. She has three kids and loves teaching students how to get in charge of their mind so that they can shoot for their dreams.  For 12-18 years old.

Details: We all experience stress, sadness, and other things that can affect our physical and mental wellbeing. When this happens, it can be hard to carry on with school, work, and our daily life. Join us for a presentation on youth mental health, and accessing mental health resources in Half Moon Bay. Later, workshop attendees will hear about a bill that will bring youth mental health resources to Half Moon Bay, and have a chance to share their input.    Youth Leadership Institute and Assemblymember Berman’s Office (CA District 24) will be facilitating the presentation!

Details: The Pacific Islander Initiative will conduct 3 Heal & Paint events with 3 Pacific Islander (PI) community groups/spaces to reduce mental health stigma, increase mental health awareness, promote healing, and produce art installations for the Pacific Islander Initiative’s (PII) Suicide Prevention event in September 2019, One Life, All Love Art Gallery. Each Heal & Paint project will focus on mental health awareness with a specific focus on suicide (ideation, attempts, survivors) in the PI community. Heal and Paint workshops are facilitated to reduce stigma and increase awareness about suicide and mental health in the PI community. The purpose of the event is to reduce stigma and increase awareness regarding suicide and mental health in the Pacific Islander community by promoting creative arts as a mode for healing.
