Lee Harrison – National Certified Peer Specialist
BHRS’ Lee Harrison, Consumer and Family Liaison in the Office of Consumer and Family Affairs, recently became Mental Health America’s 39th National Certified Peer Specialist. Lee adds this national advanced certification to previously held International and Louisiana State Peer Specialist Certifications.
After years of development, Mental Health America (MHA) proudly announced the creation of the MHA National Certified Peer Specialist (NCPS) credential in 2017. This groundbreaking national advanced certification lets peers demonstrate that they have the highest levels of knowledge and experience in their field.
MHA NCPS’s must have a minimum of 18 months documented experience, in-depth knowledge of 6 domains of practice, prior state certification requiring a minimum of 40 hours of training or completion of a MHA approved training and employment in a peer role; and a passing score on a moderated examination.
