November 16 – Pride Center Transgender Day of Remembrance

Join the San Mateo County LGBTQ community at the San Mateo County Pride Center for this Transgender Day of Remembrance event on November 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Transgender Day of Remembrance is an annual observance on November 20 that remembers those who have lost their lives to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. The day serves to raise awareness of the threat of abuse and violence faced by members of the transgender community and to remember those who were victims of that violence. Although not every person represented during the Day of Remembrance self-identified as transgender— each was a victim of violence based on bias against transgender people.

Dr. Jei Africa will give the keynote address and District 1 Supervisor, Dave Pine, will provide welcoming remarks to the community. The Program includes food and refreshments, speakers from the community, a call to action and a procession to commemorate those that we’ve lost.
